Topic Overview
If you have an interest in making light in your room more than something you just flick on and off this tutorial is for you. If your child is in love with a storybook’s pictures and wants a nightlight, this tutorial is the place to be. Even if you’re just looking for unique gifts to give friends and family, you’re in the right place. This tutorial will be orally instructing you on how to craft a personalized nightlight box, where you choose a picture that is displayed in the box itself.

Task (what will your audience be doing)
My audience will be listening to my instruction and using it to create their own personalized nightlight from 2 picture frames, an image of their choice, and clothing pins. This creation will also require the use of a hot glue gun, or crazy glue and a dollar store nightlight and extension cord. They’ll need to be able to print out a picture of their choosing, so access to the internet and a color printer is also necessary, unless they opt to try and paint their own image.

Process/Guidance (how you will create the project)
First I will explain the desired end product in this instruction. Following this, I will guide my audience through the creation of their nightlight by first informing them of the materials that they will need and then explaining the part that each piece will play in the creation of this nightlight-box. The bulk of the tutorial will consist of me telling my audience what they need to do, step by step, to create their nightlight. At present it is unnecessary for me to buy the supplies needed to create this project. In future, when it comes time to explore the visual and text aspects of eLearning I will be willing to do so.

Evaluation (how you will evaluate your audience)
My audience will be evaluated through a series of criteria that I will give them at the end. These criteria should be met if the listener has followed my instruction. Questions will include visual and physical analysis and checks on their finished product. At the end of each question I will highlight areas that the learner might have gone wrong if a specific aspect of their project is not up to par.

Reflection (why did you choose to create this project)
I chose to create this project because it is not something that can easily be found on the web. It’s an interactive activity that parents and children can do together and it produces a solid end result that will make it clear whether or not the instructions have been followed properly. For parents with young children or people interested in ambient lighting, this should be an interesting tutorial. Another reason I chose to create this project specifically, was that I can build on it throughout the course of this session. With a portion specifically dedicated to auditory learners I’ll be able to expand in future projects to visual and written instructions with video, PowerPoint slides and text. When taken altogether the variety of ways in which I’ll be enabling people to learn the material I’m presenting should make it a fully comprehensive piece of instruction.
